Chocolate Cream Pie with Oreo Crust

This dessert is great to bring to potluck dinners or  alongside a meal you are taking to a family. Half the recipe is plenty for one family, so you might consider dividing the ingredients among two smaller dishes. Then, you will have one for yourself and one to share with others. The recipe is taken from a Kraft Food and Family magazine. I have found dozens of other great recipes on their website as well.

Chocolate Cream Pie with Oreo Crust

35 Oreo cookies (regular, not double-stuffed; store-brand tastes just as good)

6 Tbsp melted butter

8 oz package cream cheese softened

¼ cup sugar

2 Tbsp cold milk

1 ½ tubs thawed cool whip (or most of a large tub; I do not recommend low-fat varieties.)

1 big box instant chocolate pudding

3 cups cold milk

1. Process the cookies until fine and mix with melted butter. Press into 9×13 dish. Refrigerate until ready to use.

2. Whisk cream cheese, sugar and 2 Tbsp milk until blended. Stir in 1 ¼ cups cool whip. Spread over crust.

3. Make pudding according to package instructions. Pour over cream cheese layer and let stand 5 minutes.

4. Cover with remaining cool whip. Cover and refrigerate 4 or more hours. (You can also put it in the freezer if you are running short on time.)

This sounds delicious! It seems like a great “make ahead of time” recipe, which I need to find more of. In the evening, I often find myself trying to cook several different things at the same time when life would be so much less complicated if I had some of the meal already made!
